Doing a spot of image searching on the internet, I came across an interesting logo for ‘The School of Artisan Food’ – a company I had never heard of before. I was intrigued. Clicking through to their website I discovered that they are a not-for-profit organisation that ‘exists to teach all aspects of artisan food production’.
Based in Nottinghamshire, the school offers a unique opportunity for people of all skill levels to expand their knowledge through a wide range of short courses or a one-year Advanced Diploma in either butchery and charcuterie, baking or dairy. Their blog features such wonders as a Christmas pudding stuffing, which sounds particularly decadent. Personally, I wouldn’t mind trying the Introduction to Artisan Chocolate Making!

It’s that time of the year when festiveness are running at their highest and everyone is spending a little too much time on ‘youtube’ whilst trying to wrap up the lose ends of 2011.
Here are some of our ‘Christmas Viral Top Three’ that we thought we’d share:
Number one: The Digital Story of the Nativity
This is a great insight into what might be if Jesus was born today.
Number two: Harvey Nichols Walk of Shame
For all of us girls out there this will bring back many memories of university days and what our friends got up to – not us, of course!
Number three: Xmas Carol Torture
We all like a Christmas carol or two, but this viral tests your vacation tune tolerance of ‘Jingle Bells’ – the longer you listen, the bigger the discount…

Last Sunday, a friend of mine gave me tickets to the X-Factor final. So you’re reading this with envy, pity or disgust, depending on your perspective. Either way, I was very excited and Coldplay were on the bill, making this event something that I wasn’t going to miss.
It’s the Coldplay set that I want to share with everyone. At the beginning of the show, each and every person in the audience was given two large wrist-bands – the only hint was that they were to do with the Coldplay set. Later, we were told to dance with our hands in the air when Coldplay came on. Still none-the-wiser (although totally happy to dance with my arms in the air). More…

A Masonic temple in Brooklyn filled with Williamsburg hipsters, a throng of creatives congregating to support Kickstarter and see the premier of Girl Walk // All Day.
Dance music thumped out of the hall, huge white balloons bounced over the crowd, the atmosphere was electric, the hairstyles asymmetric, moustaches sported, checked shirts everywhere. We were in the hip part of town.

After a hard week in the office, nothing was more in need that some lovely food and great wine, and that is certainly what you get at The Lobster Pot. I can only describe my evening there on Friday, as one of the best seafood experiences ever.
You really need to know that this restaurant is there, as it is located between Kennington and Elephant & Castle. Upon arriving, you are welcomed to the sound of seagulls and the waves crashing – and that is just the doorbell that you ring to get in. More…

We spotted this fantastic homage to ‘Mighty Michelle’ Obama in New York, ‘the First Lady of fabulous’. Love it.

A recent tour around Highgate Cemetary, was an eye-opener, not least because of its size (17 acres of prime North London land), the fact that it is Grade 1 listed, but the incredible thought and artistry that has gone into the memorials of those dearly departed.
Amongst the traditional headstones, were some hidden gems which really reflected the personality of the dead and really got me thinking. From the actual design of the memories (headstone, book, folly, piano anyone?) to the descriptions; ‘Revolutionary, activitest, thinker’ – wow. My personal favorite is the beautifully design but cynical…DEAD! More…

These playful products captured my imagination recently at the Museum of Contemporary Art Shop in Chicago. I love how the M-cups cleverly deliver exact measures for baking— 1 cup, 3/4 cup, 2/3 cup, etc — all within the traditional and beautiful form of a Russian nesting doll. The graffiti cocktail shaker is pure magic: Perfect for preparing a dry martini for Banksy after a late night urban art adventure in London or New York.

As the days draw shorter and we transition to a life lived in darkness, it’s all the lovely fairy lights and intoxicating smells of Gluhwein that make this time of the year so bearable. Fortunately, Winter Wonderland has opened again in London, marking yet another year in which we tempt ourselves out into the cold to indulge in the German traditions of Christmas. Among these treats is Jägermeister, which happens to have a highly visible presence in the market this year. A perfect way to lift the spirit… and for the brand to show itself in a relevant light. Cheers to that.
