Soundcheck – the ones to watch in 2012

Andrew Mulholland

A small central London venue. An intimate audience of just 250. Up close and personal with four completely different artists – the ones who are going to be big in 2012.

Soundcheck is The Gild’s guilty pleasure. We team-up with our friends at Vision Artists to showcase the latest and greatest music. We are interested in brand/band collaboration but with genuine synergy between the two – not because the MD wants to be involved in some music, any music!

Katrina, an LA based artist who’s single ‘Shame on Me’ was a radio and club hit in the US, was first up and rocked it. Her single will be released in the UK in the new year, followed by her album ‘In the Blink of an Eye’ which was produced by Grammy award winner Val Garay. You can catch Katrina again in February.

The Gild takes force with Voltron Merchandising Role

We have just won an exciting brief to create the first consumer product style guide for Voltron Force, Classic Media and WEP’s new TV series. It is based on iconic 80’s TV series ‘Voltron – Defender of the Universe’ and is currently on-air on Nicktoons in the US. The Gild is developing all character art, product innovation concepts as well as all consumer product packaging for the brand.

We can’t say much more than that for now, but the Creative team has had to become 4-8 year old boys…which has been fun to say the least!

Purely Cosmetic – Revlon joins The Gild’s client list

December 2011

We are very excited to announce that we are working with Revlon on its iconic Charlie brand. We can’t say much at the moment but there will be lots of exciting things happening in 2012.

Our Franci in print!

November 2011

Our Senior Planning Executive Franci was featured in last month’s Cosmopolitan Italia. Here she talks about working at The Gild, her take on creative industries and how all this compares to the Italian way. No wonder we’ve since then heard from a number of Italian girls wanting to join our team. Before we know it our office may become the new Dolce Vita this side of Little Portland Street!

Romin joins the team

November 2011

Romin Mehdizadeh has joined The Gild’s Design team. He’s worked with a number of respected studios in London, Manchester and Edinburgh including SAS Design, Start Judge Gill and Tayburn. He recently helped to establish the Start JG studio in Dubai which is enjoying rapid success.

Recent projects have included store concepts for Fred Perry, branding a series of global luxury hotels as far as China, for Jumeirah and working with some of the most respected typographers on branding the International Society of Typographic Designers Awards.

A passion for photography and music is only overshadowed by his love of being in San Francisco Bay cheering his baseball team, the Giants.

New kid on the block

September 2011

Andrew Mulholland has just joined The Gild as the Executive Client Services Director – yup, that’s a big title which basically means he’s come on board to wow current clients and woo future ones. Having previously been on the Management Board for FutureBrand, Andrew will bring a mountain of (insider?) knowledge, oh… and 20 years experience.

New client win

June 2011

We are very excited to have been appointed by Turtle Wax, the world’s largest manufacturer of car-care products, to work on an EMEA brief. The exact details of the project are being kept under wraps but working on this 70 year old brand with such heritage and influence (a 60% market share in the US) is amazing.

New client wins

May 2011

We’ve been very busy at The Gild in this first quarter and are thrilled to have won four new clients across the exciting categories of fashion, automotive, toys and makeup. We can’t say any more at the moment but watch this space.

Fast cars and guitars

March 2011

Mark Palmer has joined the Design team as
a Senior Designer. He brings a wealth of talent
from his background in music, fashion,
advertising, publishing and branding, having
worked with respected studios, SEA Design
and Tom Hingston Studio.

Recent projects include the identity and launch
for luxury mobile phone manufacturer Æsir
Copenhagen and music packaging for Massive
Attack and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.

Fast cars and guitars are Mark’s not so guilty
pleasures. Welcome.

Bringing Peter Werth label up to date

The Gild has repositioned menswear label Peter Werth,
creating a new identity and overseeing art direction
as the brand looks to connect better with its customers.
Appointed through a two-way pitch in October 2010,
The Gild initially carried out a strategic review of the
brand to consider its ‘traditional and contemporary
values’ in the context of the fashion market, according
to The Gild design director Alexia Cox.
