Andrew Mulholland
A small central London venue. An intimate audience of just 250. Up close and personal with four completely different artists – the ones who are going to be big in 2012.
Soundcheck is The Gild’s guilty pleasure. We team-up with our friends at Vision Artists to showcase the latest and greatest music. We are interested in brand/band collaboration but with genuine synergy between the two – not because the MD wants to be involved in some music, any music!
Katrina, an LA based artist who’s single ‘Shame on Me’ was a radio and club hit in the US, was first up and rocked it. Her single will be released in the UK in the new year, followed by her album ‘In the Blink of an Eye’ which was produced by Grammy award winner Val Garay. You can catch Katrina again in February.
Caan, a new artist who’s debut single ‘Now Hear This My Friends’ was released in October, also entertained, with his amazing vocals underpinned with the synthpop and electronica that made his name. He has been holed up for six months working on new material with a wider range of influences, styles and genres – from drum and bass beats to garage rock, mixed with his soulful vocals.
The Baddies rocked with their unique brand of British high energy indie rock. Their reputation is as one of the most exciting bands around preceded them and they have been likened to The Horrors. Their song, ‘Tiger Face’, definitely went down a storm, made even better by the four good looking boys perform it?!
Our headliner was Jade Williams, aka Sunday Girl who engaged the audience with her honeyed melancholic but uplifting tunes. 2011 has been amazing year for Sunday Girl and her ‘Love u more’ single has smashed into the charts. She is also a FROW (Fashion front row regular) and Gilders were definitely coveting her fabulous outfits! Check out her tunes – Sunday Girl.
